3110

Case IH 3110 – ECU A-095: Rail pressure sensor value is above maximum offset

Issue description

The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) monitors the fuel rail pressure against offset drift when the engine is at a standstill after a waiting period. This waiting period allows the fuel rail pressure to drop to ambient atmospheric pressure, which should be approximately 1.00 bar. If the ECU determines that the reading from the rail pressure sensor is above the maximum allowed offset (meaning the sensor is reading artificially high when the system is depressurized), this fault code is triggered.

Applies to these machines

  • Steiger T4B
  • 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines
  • Puma series
  • Magnum series
  • Steiger series
  • Maxxum series
  • Farmall series

Check the cause

  1. Allow the machine to sit at a standstill to see if the rail pressure drops to ambient pressure and the fault resolves itself

  2. Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the status of the fault and verify if it is currently active

  3. Check the ECU A-095 for the appropriate software version, as outdated software can cause false offset readings

  4. Visually inspect the relevant wiring harnesses and connectors for the B-015 Rail Pressure Sensor for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires

  5. Verify that the connectors are fully installed and flex the harness to check for intermittent connection drops

  6. Test the sensor's signal circuit for a short to a high voltage source or an open circuit condition

Repair steps

  1. Software Update

If the fault has not resolved after the standstill period, re-flash ECU A-095 with the latest software if an update is available.

  2. Wiring Repair

If the visual inspection or circuit testing reveals a short to a high source, an open circuit, or damaged pins, repair or replace the affected wiring harness/connector.

  3. Sensor Replacement

If the ECU software is up to date, the wiring harness is in good condition, and the fault remains active, the B-015 Rail Pressure Sensor has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

  4. Clear and Test

After replacing the sensor, use the EST to clear the fault codes and run the engine to verify the repair.
