3110 (DTC 1225) - ECU

Case IH 3110 (DTC 1225) - ECU – Engine ECU: Rail pressure sensor value is above maximum offset

Issue description

The fuel rail pressure sensor is registering a baseline pressure offset that exceeds the maximum allowable limit programmed into the system, meaning the sensor is reading higher than expected or is out of calibration.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines
  • Puma series
  • Farmall series (90C, 95A, 100C, 105A, 110C, 110U, 115A, 120C, 120U)
  • Maxxum series (110, 115, 125, 140)
  • Magnum series (215, 245, 275, 305, 335)
  • Steiger series (280, 330)
  • CVX models
  • MX series
  • STX series

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harnesses and connectors associated with the fuel rail pressure sensor for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires.

  2. Verify that all connectors are fully seated and installed correctly.

  3. Perform a harness flex test by flexing the wiring harnesses while monitoring the system to check for intermittent shorts or open circuits.

  4. Check the Engine ECU (ECU A-095) for the appropriate software version.

Repair steps

  1. Perform visual and physical harness inspections

Perform the visual and physical harness inspections detailed above.

  2. Repair or replace harness section

If any wiring damage or connector corrosion is found, repair or replace the affected harness section.

  3. Check and re-flash ECU software

If the wiring is intact, check the ECU software and re-flash if an update is available.

  4. Clear codes and return to service

If the fault has been resolved by wiring repair or a software flash, clear the codes and return the machine to service.

  5. Replace fuel rail pressure sensor

If the fault has not been resolved and the code remains active, the fuel rail pressure sensor is likely faulty and must be replaced.

  6. Note emergency re-starts

Note: Emergency re-starts are available on some models (like the 240 series combines) to allow 30 seconds of operation to move the machine if a full power loss is experienced due to this code.
