Case IH 3118 (F-1043-15) - ECU – Engine Control Module (ECM) / ECU A-095: Internal 12V supply voltage is too high
Issue description
The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) continuously monitors its internal 12V sensor supply voltage. If the ECU determines that this voltage value is higher than the expected upper limit, it will trigger this fault code.

Check the cause
Verify that the machine's battery has not been connected to an external power supply (such as a high-voltage jump starter or an unregulated external battery charger). If an external power supply is connected, disconnect it immediately and test the system for normal operation.
Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify if the fault code is currently active or just a stored historical code.
Test the tractor's battery voltage and alternator output to ensure the machine's charging system is not overcharging and sending excessive voltage to the ECU.
Inspect the wiring harnesses and connectors leading to ECU A-095. Look for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires. Flex the harnesses while the machine is on to check for intermittent shorts to a higher voltage source.
Check the ECU A-095 to ensure it is running the most appropriate and up-to-date software version.
Repair steps
Disconnect External Sources
Remove any external chargers or jump-packs. Clear the fault code using the EST and cycle the key to see if the code returns.
Repair Wiring
If visual inspection reveals that the 12V sensor supply circuit is shorted to a higher voltage source (like the main battery power), repair or replace the affected wiring harness.
Re-flash the ECU
If the wiring and charging system are healthy but the code persists, re-flash the ECU A-095 with the latest software.
Replace the ECU
If the fault cannot be cleared after a software re-flash, the internal circuitry of the ECU (or the internal ambient pressure sensor which shares this 12V supply) has failed. The Engine ECU must be replaced. (Note: One service manual notes that if the internal ambient pressure sensor is the root cause of the 12V supply failure, replacing the ECU is strictly required only if the machine is operated at high altitudes, though replacement is the standard fix for the 3118 code).
