Case IH 3119 – Engine Controller / Electronic Control Unit (ECU) A-095: ECU internal 12V supply voltage is too low
Issue description
The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) monitors its internal 12V supply voltage. If the ECU determines that this voltage value has dropped below the expected lower limit, it triggers this fault.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- Steiger T4B
- Case IH Magnum 235 - 340 (Series 4)
- Case IH Puma Series
- Case IH 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines
- Case IH Austoft 9900 Sugar Cane Harvesters
- Steiger
Check the cause
Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify if the fault is currently present and active
Check if an external power supply is connected to the tractor
Check the battery voltage on the instrument cluster. Start the engine and run it at 2000 rev/min to ensure the alternator is supplying adequate system voltage
Inspect the wiring harness for a short circuit or open wire
Check for electrical failures in connected 12V sensors that might be pulling the internal ECU voltage down
Repair steps
Software Verification
Connect the EST and check the ECU A-095 for the appropriate software version.
Re-flash ECU
If the software is outdated or corrupted, re-flash the ECU A-095 with the latest software.
Re-test
Clear the codes and run the machine. If the fault has been resolved, return the machine to service.
Harness/Sensor Isolation
If the fault persists, systematically disconnect 12V sensors on the engine harness to see if a shorted sensor is dragging down the ECU's internal 12V supply.
Module Replacement
If the wiring and sensors are intact, the fault indicates that the internal integrity of the ECU is compromised. You must replace the ECM/ECU.
