Case IH 3152 – Engine Control Module (ECM): System/Amber Warning Lamp - No Load

The control module is detecting an open circuit. When the module attempts to send power to the Amber Warning Lamp (or monitors it during a self-test), it does not detect the expected electrical resistance or current draw. This is most commonly caused by a burned-out bulb, a disconnected wiring harness, or a broken wire in the circuit.

   Turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position without starting the engine and observe if the Amber Warning Lamp illuminates during the initial self-test (indicates if bulb is blown)

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the Engine ECM to the cab/instrument cluster for any obvious signs of chafing, disconnected plugs, or corrosion

   Use a multimeter to check for continuity across the warning lamp bulb

   If the bulb is good, check the continuity of the wiring from the lamp socket back to the ECM to isolate the open circuit

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Lamp

   Remove the necessary dash panels or instrument cluster housing to access the rear of the Amber Warning Lamp socket.

   Inspect and Replace the Bulb

   Remove the bulb from the socket. If the filament is broken or the bulb tests open with a multimeter, replace it with a new 12V miniature bulb.

   Clean the Socket

   Inspect the bulb socket and connector for corrosion or loose pins. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner if necessary.

   Repair Wiring

   If the bulb is functional, trace the wiring harness back to the ECM. Repair any broken wires or replace damaged connector pins that are causing the open circuit.

   Test the System

   Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position, and verify that the Amber Warning Lamp illuminates during the bulb check. Clear the fault codes from the ECM using a diagnostic tool and verify that code 3152 does not return.
