Case IH 3182 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: CAN timeout error from cruise control vehicle speed (CCVS)

The Engine Control Unit has lost communication or timed out while waiting for the cruise control vehicle speed data over the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus.

   Check for other related vehicle CAN faults, as resolving the main CAN bus issue will likely resolve the CCVS timeout error

   Verify that the tractor/machine battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply. Disconnect if present and test for normal operation

   Disconnect the vehicle (VE) harness from the ECU A-095 at connector X-911 and check for proper voltage on the vehicle harness side with the ignition switch in the ON position

   Visually inspect harnesses and connectors for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires. Verify that all connectors are fully seated

   Inspect for a faulty charging system, a faulty solenoid, or issues with the Central Control Unit (CCU) / Universal Control Module (UCM)

   Resolve Wiring Issues

   If the visual inspection or multimeter tests reveal broken wires, shorts, or corroded pins at connector X-911 or along the CAN bus harness, repair or replace the affected wiring.

   Software Verification / Re-flash

   Check the ECU A-095 to ensure it has the appropriate software installed. If the software is corrupted or outdated, re-flash the ECU with the latest OEM software.

   ECU Replacement

   If the wiring is intact, the voltage is correct, and a software re-flash does not clear the fault, the ECU A-095 powerstage may have suffered an internal failure. Replace the Engine Control Unit.
