Case IH 3183 – Engine Control Unit (ECU A-095): CAN communication failure between vehicle controller and ECU controller - TSC1_VR message (Engine brake)

The main vehicle interface bus (CAN Node A Bus) has lost communication with the engine controller regarding the engine brake command message.

   Check for other related vehicle CAN faults, as they may be causing the TSC1_VR message failure

2. 2

   Ensure that the tractor/machine battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (like a jump starter or external charger)

   Test ECU Supply Voltage by disconnecting the vehicle (VE) harness from the ECU A-095 at connector X-911 and checking for proper voltage on the vehicle harness side with the ignition ON

   Inspect related systems for possible failure modes, including a faulty charging system, a faulty solenoid, or a faulty Central Control Unit (CCU) / Universal Control Module (UCM)

   Disconnect External Power

   If an external power supply was connected, remove it and cycle the key to see if the code clears.

   Resolve Network Faults

   Address any other active CAN bus codes first, as a broader CAN A Bus failure will trigger this specific message timeout.

   Wiring & Harness Repair

   Inspect connector X-911 at the ECU and the wiring harness leading to the Central Control Unit (CCU). Look for corroded pins, chafed wires, or loose connections. Repair or replace the harness if voltage is out of spec.

   Module Replacement

   If the wiring, charging system, and supply voltage are all verified as good, replace or reflash the Engine Control Unit (ECU A-095) or the Central Control Unit (CCU).
