Case IH 3193 – Engine ECU (EDC - Electronic Diesel Control module): Cylinder2 Warning - Current Level Error

Fault code 3193 indicates an electrical fault in the fuel injector circuit for Cylinder 2. Specifically, the control module has detected an abnormal current level—such as a short to ground, a short to power, or an open circuit (broken wire or burned-out injector coil). Because the expected voltage spike or current draw from the injector solenoid is missing or out of range, the system flags a current level error.

   Inspect the external engine wiring harness leading to the injector pass-through connectors on the rocker housing for chafed wires, loose terminals, or corrosion.

   Use the CNH EST (Electronic Service Tool) or EASy tool to confirm the code and check for any related codes (like open load or fast decay errors on the same cylinder).

   Check the resistance of the Cylinder 2 fuel injector solenoid using a multimeter and compare the reading to OEM specifications to determine if the injector coil is burned out.

   Disconnect the harness from the Engine ECU and the injector, then perform a continuity test on the #2 injector circuit wires to ensure there is no break in the wire and no short to ground.

   Use a noid light or an oscilloscope at the injector connector to verify that the ECU is actually sending the ground/driver pulse to the injector while cranking or running.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the machine's battery to protect the ECU and electrical system.

   Access the Injectors

   Remove the valve cover/rocker cover to gain access to the fuel injectors and the internal injector wiring harness.

   Inspect Internal Harness

   Check the internal harness that connects the pass-through connector on the rocker housing to the #2 injector. If the wiring is brittle, melted, or damaged, replace the internal injector harness.

   Replace the Injector

   If the wiring tests good but the injector failed the resistance test, remove the fuel inlet tube, injector hold-down clamp, and the faulty Cylinder 2 injector. Install the new injector and torque all fittings to OEM spec.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the valve cover using a new valve cover gasket.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use your diagnostic tool to clear the P0202/3193 fault code. Run the engine to verify the misfire is gone and the code does not return.
