Case IH 3204 (DTC 5816) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: Open load error of injector in cylinder 4

The system has detected an open circuit (lack of electrical continuity) when evaluating the power stage for the cylinder 4 fuel injector (Injector Y-064).

   Check for concurrent codes to verify if there is a broader electrical issue.

   Check external power supplies and ensure the tractor's battery has not been connected to a jump box or external charger, which can falsely trigger this code.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the engine cylinder harness from the injector (valve) cover at connector X-826.

   Measure resistance

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance on the injector cover side of the circuit.

   Evaluate injector continuity

   If there is continuity (resistance is within normal specification for the coil), the cylinder 4 injector (Y-064) solenoid coil has failed internally. Replace the fuel injector.

   Evaluate wiring continuity

   If there is no continuity (infinite resistance), there is an open circuit or a short-to-ground condition in the cylinder 4 injector circuit between connector X-826 (pin 2) and connector Y-064 (pin 1).

   Repair wiring harness

   Locate and repair the damaged or grounded conductor in the wiring harness under the valve cover.
