Case IH 3208 (DTC 5616) - ECU – ECU A-095: Open load error of injector in cylinder 6

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects an electrical pattern consistent with an open load (an open circuit or failed solenoid) during the evaluation of the cylinder 6 injector (Y-066).

   Check for other active error codes. If no other error code is displayed, proceed to the next step.

   Verify that the machine's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply. If an external power supply is connected, disconnect it and test the system for normal operation.

   Visually inspect the wiring harnesses and connectors between the ECU and the injectors. Look for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires. Verify that all connectors are completely seated.

   Remove the injector (valve) cover and disconnect the wiring harness from the cylinder 6 injector (Y-066).

   Use a multimeter to check for continuity on the injector itself: test from Y-066 pin 1 to chassis ground. There should be NO continuity.

   Evaluate continuity test results

   If there IS continuity to chassis ground: The cylinder 6 injector (Y-066) solenoid coil has failed internally. You must replace the cylinder 6 fuel injector. If there is NO continuity to chassis ground: The injector itself may be fine, but there is a short-to-ground or open condition in the cylinder 6 injector wiring circuit between the injector and the ECU.

   Repair or replace wiring harness

   If the wiring is at fault, trace the harness back to ECU A-095, locate the damaged wire, and repair or replace the harness section.

   Replace cylinder 6 fuel injector

   If the injector is at fault, remove the defective cylinder 6 injector and install the replacement part according to the engine-specific mechanical service manual.

   Reassemble and verify repair

   Reconnect all harnesses, reinstall the valve cover, clear the fault codes via the diagnostic menu, and run the engine to verify the repair.
