Case IH 3210 (DTC 7116) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU A-095): Injection bank 1 short circuit failure

Injection bank 1 short circuit failure (all injectors of the same bank can be affected). The injector control scheme groups individual injector control circuits into banks. Hardware errors in the injectors and their respective power stages are investigated within the control unit. The diagnostic procedure uses pattern detection to identify whether the issue is a specific injector error or a broader bank error.

   Verify that the tractor/machine battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (such as a jump box or external charger)

   Check for accompanying individual cylinder short circuit faults on Bank 1: 3063 (DTC 6226) - Short circuit error of injector in cylinder 1, 3071 (DTC 6626) - Short circuit error of injector in cylinder 2, or 3079 (DTC 6426) - Short circuit error of injector in cylinder 3

   Disconnect External Power

   If an external power supply is connected to the machine, disconnect it immediately and test the system for normal operation.

   Resolve Individual Injector Faults

   If faults 3063 (DTC 6226), 3071 (DTC 6626), or 3079 (DTC 6426) are present, troubleshoot and repair the short circuit for that specific cylinder's injector first. Once resolved, check if the broader bank fault 3210 (DTC 7116) is also resolved.

   Software Flash

   If neither of the specific cylinder faults is present, check the ECU A-095 for the appropriate software version. Re-flash the ECU with the latest software if necessary.

   Harness and Connector Inspection

   Visually inspect the wiring harnesses and connectors between the ECU and the injectors. Look for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires. Verify that all connectors are completely seated. Flex the involved harnesses while observing the monitor to reveal any intermittent breaks or shorts in the wiring. Repair any damaged wiring.

   ECU Replacement

   If the wiring is intact, the software is up to date, and the short circuit persists, the ECU A-095 power stage has likely failed and the Engine Control Unit must be replaced.
