Case IH 3218 (DTC 7216) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: Injection bank 2 short circuit failure

Injection bank 2 short circuit failure (all injectors of the same bank can be affected). Hardware errors in the injectors and their respective power stages are investigated within the control module. When a short circuit occurs in bank 2, it can disable or affect all the injectors grouped into that specific bank.

   Check that the tractor battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (e.g., a jump starter or charger)

   Check for individual injector short circuit errors present alongside the bank error (e.g., 3083/DTC 6326 for cylinder 5, 3075/DTC 6526 for cylinder 6, 3067/DTC 6726 for cylinder 4)

   Visually inspect the harnesses and connectors for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires

   Verify that all connectors are completely seated

   Flex the involved harnesses while the machine is operating to reveal any intermittent breaks or shorts in the wiring

   Isolate External Factors

   Disconnect any external power supplies or chargers. Clear the codes and operate the machine to see if fault 3218 (DTC 7216) returns.

   Address Individual Injectors

   If codes 3083, 3075, or 3067 are present, the short is likely isolated to the injector or wiring for cylinder 4, 5, or 6. Test the resistance of these specific injectors and their harness branches. Replace the shorted injector or repair the wiring for that specific cylinder.

   Repair Wiring

   If the visual and physical flex-test of the wiring harness reveals chafing, bare wires, or corroded pins, repair or replace the affected harness section.

   Software Re-flash

   If no individual injector faults are present and the wiring is intact, check the ECU A-095 for the appropriate software version. Re-flash the ECU with the latest software update.

   Component Replacement

   If the software is up to date, the wiring is good, and the fault persists, the failure lies within the ECU A-095 power stage itself or an internal short in the injectors. Replace the faulty injectors or the ECU A-095 module.
