Case IH 3223 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Bank2 Warning - Application Dependent

This fault indicates an electrical anomaly or warning on the Bank 2 fuel injector circuit (usually cylinders 4, 5, and 6). It generally points to a short circuit, open circuit, or resistance issue in the injector wiring harness or a failing injector solenoid.

   Inspect the external engine wiring harness leading to the Bank 2 injectors for chafing, short circuits (especially low side to ground), or open circuits.

   Inspect the ECM/EDC connectors and the valve cover pass-through connectors for corrosion, loose pins, or moisture intrusion.

   Disconnect the harness and measure the resistance of the Bank 2 injectors and the internal injector harness to check for shorts or opens.

   Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check for related Bank 2 codes (e.g., 3219, 3224, 3230) and perform an injector click test or cylinder cutout test to isolate the specific faulty cylinder/injector.

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery.

   Inspect and test the external engine wiring harness from the ECM to the Bank 2 injectors.

   Repair or replace the external harness if a short or open is found.

   Clean the area around the valve cover and remove the valve cover to access the internal injector harness and the fuel injectors.

   Perform this step if the external harness tests good.

   Test the internal harness and individual injectors for Bank 2.

   Replace the faulty fuel injector(s) or the internal injector wiring harness as necessary.

   Reinstall the valve cover using a new valve cover gasket.

   Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes using the EST, and test run the engine to verify the repair.
