3230 (DTC E126) - ECU

Case IH 3230 (DTC E126) - ECU – Engine ECU (A-095): ECU internal failure - Injector CY33x component

Issue description

This fault code indicates an internal hardware or software failure within the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), specifically an error in the chip of the feed stage component of the Injector CY33X. The ECU detects a specific combination of errors matching the known failure reference pattern for the injector feed stage, triggering the fault and initiating a substitute reaction such as limiting engine power or forcing low idle.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines (7240, 8240, 9240)
  • Puma Series
  • Magnum Series (MX210, MX230, MX255, MX285)
  • Maxxum Series
  • STX Steiger Series
  • A8000 Sugar Cane Harvester
  • A8800 Sugar Cane Harvester

Check the cause

  1. Check if the machine battery has been connected to an external power supply (jump starter or charger); disconnect it and test for normal operation as voltage irregularities can trigger false faults.

  2. Visually inspect the relevant wiring harnesses and ECU connectors for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires.

  3. Verify that the connectors are fully seated and flex the involved harnesses to reveal any intermittent breaks or shorts while operating the machine.

  4. Check the ECU A-095 using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify it is running the appropriate and most up-to-date software.

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Wiring Issues

If any harness damage or abnormal voltage readings were found during the physical inspection, repair the damaged conductors or replace the affected harness section.

  2. Re-flash the ECU

If the wiring is intact, connect the diagnostic tool and re-flash the ECU A-095 with the appropriate software.

  3. Test the Machine

Clear the fault codes and return the machine to service to verify if the software update resolved the issue.

  4. Replace the ECU

If the fault code returns after a software re-flash and wiring verification, the ECU has suffered a hard internal failure on the injector feed stage chip. The ECU A-095 must be removed and replaced with a new unit, which will then need to be programmed to the machine.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Electronic Control Unit (ECU) A-095 / Engine Control Module

Varies by machine model and engine configuration. A replacement ECU will require dealer programming/calibration using the Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool) to match the specific machine's fuel calibration and immobilizer settings.
