Case IH 3231 – Engine Control Module (ECM / ECU): Injection Processor Error - Internal Reset / Clock Loss / Voltage Too Low

This code indicates a critical internal failure, loss of synchronization, or severe power drop within the injection processing circuitry of the engine control module. When this fault is triggered, the system will typically force a "Stop Engine" condition to prevent uncontrolled fueling or engine damage.

   Test the machine's batteries and alternator output to ensure the ECM is receiving adequate and stable voltage

   Clear the fault codes and cycle the ignition to determine if the code returns, ruling out a temporary internal reset caused by a transient voltage spike or drop

   Verify that the engine harness, power, and grounds are fully intact and supplying correct voltage to the ECM.

   If the wiring is sound and the code remains active or reoccurs, the official diagnostic action is: "Defective ECU. Replace ECU if problem reoccurs (Send in ECU for investigation)".

   Remove the defective Engine ECU.

   Install the replacement Engine ECU.
