Case IH 3232 – Engine Control Module (ECM / Engine ECU): Injection Processor Error - Unlocked / Initialization Failure
Issue description
Critical internal hardware or software initialization failure within the engine's injection processing circuitry. The processor responsible for timing and firing the fuel injectors has failed to unlock or boot up correctly during the module's self-check sequence.

Check the cause
Check battery voltage and perform a load test to ensure it is fully charged (12.6V+) and rule out low voltage during the boot sequence
Inspect main power and ground pins at the ECM harness connectors for corrosion, loose pins, or chafed wires that could cause a momentary voltage drop
Perform a hard reset by turning the battery disconnect switch off for 5-10 minutes to discharge ECM capacitors, then power back on
Repair steps
Clear and Retest
Connect the electronic service tool (EST) and attempt to clear the code. Cycle the key.
Monitor for Recurrence
If the code was a one-time glitch (e.g., from a low battery crank), the engine will start normally.
Replace the ECU
If the problem reoccurs, replace the ECU. The injection processor is integrated into the ECM circuit board and cannot be serviced separately.
Flash / Program
Install the new ECM and use the CNH EST to flash the correct engine software dataset and input the injector trim codes.
