Case IH 3243 – Engine Control Module (ECM): ECM recovery (suppressed) - recovery occurred

During system startup or operation, a hardware or configuration error was detected that forced the Engine Control Module's internal watchdog to trigger a recovery (reset) of the ECU.

   Use the electronic service tool (EST) to analyze trigger data by reading the label HWEMon_numRecovery and comparing the value with the service manual table

   Determine if the error exists only temporarily (e.g., the injection flag reoccurs) or if it is a permanent fault

   Check for the presence of related fault code 3244 (ECU Recovery (Visible) - Recovery Occurred), which indicates the ECU software or hardware is actively failing

   Clear the Fault

   Delete the error from the fault memory using the diagnostic service tool. If the error was a one-time temporary glitch, no further action is required.

   Reprogram the ECU

   If the error occurs repeatedly (especially if accompanied by code 3244), connect the service tool and re-flash/reprogram the Engine Control Unit (ECU/EDC) with the latest software.

   Replace the ECU

   If the error remains after reprogramming, or if it is a permanent error where fuel injection remains blocked, the ECU's internal CPU or monitoring module is defective. The ECU must be replaced.

   Restore Parameters

   If the ECU/EDC is replaced, you MUST follow the appropriate Service Tool procedure to restore the machine's self-learning parameters.
