Case IH 3243 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Control Module (ECM): ECM (Suppressed) - Recovery Occurred

The Engine Control Module (ECM) experienced an internal fault, configuration problem, or communication error that triggered a suppressed recovery (an internal reboot or reset).

   Check for temporary errors to determine if the error exists only temporarily (e.g., if fuel injection reoccurs normally).

   Analyze the trigger by reading out the label HWEMon_numRecovery using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) and compare the value with the corresponding diagnostic table to find the root cause.

   Monitor if the fault escalates to code 3244 (ECU Recovery Visible - Recovery Occurred), which indicates the recovery is happening repeatedly and requires immediate intervention.

   Clear and Retest

   Clear the fault codes. If the code was temporary and does not return, no further action is needed.

   Reprogram the ECU

   If the error occurs repeatedly (or triggers code 3244), connect the EST and reprogram/flash the Engine Control Unit with the latest software.

   Replace the ECU

   If the error remains after reprogramming, the ECU has suffered a hardware failure (such as a defective monitoring module, impaired CPU clock functioning, or a disturbed SPI-Bus). The ECU must be replaced.

   Restore Parameters

   If the ECU/EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) is replaced, you must follow the appropriate Service Tool procedure to restore the engine's self-learning parameters.
