Case IH 3249 – Engine Control Module (ECM): TPU monitoring - time deviation between TPU and system not plausible

The internal timing of the TPU (Time Processing Unit) falls out of sync with the main system clock, indicating a severe internal processing error or electronic disturbance.

   Inspect the main engine wiring harnesses for shorts, grounds, or damage that could cause severe electronic disturbances to the ECU

   Cycle the power and perform an ECU initialization/reset to clear temporary electronic disturbances

   Monitor for recurrence to determine if the failure remains active after the ECU initialization

   Verify wiring harness

   Verify the wiring harness to the ECU is intact and supplying clean, stable voltage (to rule out voltage spikes causing the processor to desync).

   Clear codes and initialize

   Clear the fault codes and initialize the ECU.

   Check for persistence

   If code 3249 returns immediately or persists, the internal TPU processor has failed.

   Replace ECU

   Replace the ECU.

   Flash and calibrate

   After installing the new ECU, dealer-level software (such as CNH EST) will be required to flash the correct dataset/firmware for the specific tractor model and calibrate the system.
