Case IH 3252 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): ECU internal failure - SPI communication error

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) tests the correct functioning of the fuel injection path shut-off procedure. During this initialization test, each injection path is briefly activated. If the ECU detects a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) communication error internally during this test, fault code 3252 is logged.

   Verify that the machine's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (such as a jump box or external charger), as voltage irregularities can trigger internal SPI communication errors.

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) and check ECU A-095 to ensure it is running the most current and appropriate software version.

   Disconnect External Power

   Remove any external chargers or jump-starters and cycle the key switch to see if the code clears.

   Re-flash the ECU

   If the code persists, use the EST to re-flash the Engine Control Unit (ECU A-095) with the appropriate software.

   Test the Machine

   Cycle the ignition. If the fault has been resolved by the software update, return the machine to service.

   Escalate / Replace

   If the fault has not been resolved after a re-flash, the ECU has suffered a hard internal hardware failure. You must escalate an ASIST concern to Case IH or proceed with replacing the Engine Control Unit.
