Case IH 3255 (F-5572-31) – Engine Control Unit (ECU): ECU internal failure - ADC test

A hardware monitoring failure inside the control module where the internal Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) fails to read the fixed test input voltage between 4.73 V and 4.83 V. If the error counter exceeds 15 times, this fault code is logged, indicating an internal hardware or software failure.

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify if the fault is currently present and active. If it is inactive, it may be an intermittent voltage spike.

   Check the ECU to ensure it is running the appropriate and most up-to-date software.

   Inspect the wiring harnesses and ECU connectors for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires.

   Verify that the connectors are fully seated. Flex the involved harnesses while observing the EST monitor to reveal any intermittent breaks or shorts in the wiring that could be causing voltage irregularities.

   Re-flash the ECU

   Attempt to reinstall or update the ECU software using the EST.

   Replace the ECU

   If the ECU cannot be re-flashed, or if the software update completes but the ADC test fault remains active, the internal power stage/converter has permanently failed. You must replace the Engine Control Unit (ECU).

   Clear Codes

   After replacement and programming of the new ECU, clear the fault codes and operate the machine to verify the error has been resolved.
