Case IH 3255 – Engine Controller: Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) Failure

Internal hardware failure within the engine's control module—specifically an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) Failure. The ADC is a critical internal component responsible for translating analog sensor voltages into digital data. When the ADC fails, the controller can no longer accurately read or process sensor inputs, rendering it defective.

   Connect the Case Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Verify that fault code 3255 is currently active.

   If the code is active, the engine controller is internally shorted or failed and must be replaced (no preliminary pinpoint tests for the harness apply).

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Remove the ECU

   Locate the Engine Controller, disconnect the wiring harness connectors, and unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.

   Install the New ECU

   Mount the replacement Engine Controller and securely reconnect the wiring harnesses.

   Restore Power

   Reconnect the machine's battery.

   Reprogram / Restore Parameters

   Connect the Case Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine. You must follow the appropriate service tool procedure to restore the engine's self-learning parameters and configure the blank ECU to the specific machine. The machine will not operate correctly until this software calibration is complete.
