Case IH 3265 – Engine Controller (EDC/ECM): Reload Engine Dataset Or Replace Engine Controller If Fault Persists (Injection Time During Overrun Monitoring)

Issue description

Triggered by the engine controller during overrun monitoring (decelerating or coasting) when it detects an internal calculation error or an anomaly in the injection timing. This indicates a critical software or internal hardware failure within the module.

Applies to these machines

  • Farmall
  • skid steer
  • Steiger T4B
  • Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
  • Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
  • Farmall series

Check the cause

  1. Check for other active codes related to the crankshaft/camshaft speed sensors or fuel injectors, as physical fuel system issues can skew monitoring parameters

  2. Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the current software version on the EDC

  3. Attempt to reflash the EDC with the latest software dataset from the manufacturer to rule out software corruption

Repair steps

  1. Reload the Dataset

Connect the Case IH EST to the machine's diagnostic port. Follow the software prompts to reload/update the engine dataset on the EDC.

  2. Test the Machine

Clear the fault codes and operate the machine, ensuring you replicate overrun conditions (accelerating and then letting off the throttle to coast).

  3. Replace the EDC

If code 3265 returns after the software reload, the engine controller has suffered an internal hardware failure and must be replaced.

  4. Install the New EDC

Disconnect the battery, remove the wiring harnesses from the faulty EDC, and install the replacement module.

  5. Restore Self-Learning Parameters

Use the EST to program the new controller, input the specific injector trim codes, and run the self-learning initialization routine so the new EDC can adapt to the engine.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Controller / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) / ECM

Exact part numbers are highly specific to the machine's serial number, emissions tier, and exact F5C engine variant. Must be programmed with the correct engine dataset and injector codes via the Case IH EST dealer tool.
