Case IH 3280 (F-1043-20) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): 12V sensor supply 1 voltage is too high

The control module has monitored its internal 12-volt sensor power supply circuits and determined that the voltage on "Supply 1" has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold (shorted to a high source or experiencing system overvoltage).

   Verify that the tractor/machine battery is not currently connected to an external power supply (such as a high-output battery charger or jump-start box) causing an artificial voltage spike

   Check the battery voltage on the instrument cluster with the engine running at 2000 RPM to see if the alternator/voltage regulator is overcharging the system

   Locate ECU connector X-917, Pin 84 and inspect its associated wiring harness for a short circuit to battery power (short to a high source)

   Disconnect External Power

   If an external power supply or jump box is connected to the machine, disconnect it immediately. Clear the codes and test the system for normal operation.

   Test the Alternator

   If the instrument cluster shows excessive voltage while the engine is running at 2000 RPM, the alternator's voltage regulator has likely failed. Replace the alternator/regulator assembly.

   Repair Wiring Harness

   If system voltage is normal, trace the wire from ECU connector X-917, Pin 84. Look for chafing or melted insulation where this 12V sensor supply wire might be touching a primary 12V+ battery wire. Repair any damaged sections of the harness.

   ECU Replacement/Reflash

   If the wiring harness is completely intact, the charging system is operating at normal voltage, and the code remains active, the ECU (A-095) has an internal failure on its sensor supply circuit. The ECU will need to be re-flashed with the appropriate software by a dealer, or replaced entirely.
