Case IH 33 – Armrest Controller: Hitch Slip Set Switch failed in the Armrest controller

The controller is detecting an invalid signal (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power) from the switch used by the operator to set the allowable wheel slip limit for the rear hitch draft control system. When this switch fails, the tractor cannot accurately regulate hitch depth based on wheel slip/radar data.

   Inspect the Hitch Slip Set Switch on the armrest console for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.

   Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness and connector at the switch for corrosion, loose pins, or chafed wires.

   Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper continuity and resistance values across its positions.

   Check the wiring between the switch connector and the Armrest Controller board for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power (reference voltage is typically 2.4V - 2.5V).

   Use a diagnostic service tool to monitor the switch's live voltage/state in the Armrest Controller to confirm if the controller is receiving any signal.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the right-hand armrest console cover/bezel to access the internal wiring and switch panel.

   Disconnect the Switch

   Locate the Hitch Slip Set Switch and carefully unplug its electrical connector.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Squeeze the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch (or remove the mounting screws, depending on the exact trim level) to pop the faulty switch out of the armrest bezel.

   Install the New Switch

   Snap the replacement switch into the bezel and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reassembly

   Carefully route the wiring harness so it does not get pinched, and reinstall the armrest console cover.

   Clear Codes & Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key on. Clear the fault codes. Note: Depending on the tractor's software, a Hitch Controller Calibration procedure (Code 9317) may need to be performed after replacing hitch-related control components.
