3301 (DTC 1565) - ECU

Case IH 3301 (DTC 1565) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Control Module (ECM): Fuel rail pressure has exceeded maximum negative deviation limits.

Issue description

The fuel pressure within the high-pressure common rail has dropped too far below the commanded or expected target pressure.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines
  • Puma series
  • Magnum series (MX210, MX230, MX255, MX285)
  • Farmall 40-45-50 Tractors (with Cab and CVT Transmission)
  • Various Case IH excavators

Check the cause

  1. Check for other active faults, specifically code 3106 (DTC 1145) - 'Fuel pressure relief valve reached maximum allowed opening count'. If active, diagnose and resolve it first.

  2. Verify that the tractor's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply. If an external power supply is connected, disconnect it and test the system for normal operation.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve fuel pressure

Relieve fuel system pressure and ensure the work area is extremely clean, as microscopic contamination can destroy common rail components.

  2. Replace PRV

Remove and replace the Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) on the high-pressure fuel rail.

  3. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

  4. Reset PRV counter

Use the EST to perform the PRV counter reset / reset ECU data before returning the machine to service.
