Case IH 3334 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: CAN communication failure between the vehicle controller and the ECU controller - TSC1_PE message
Issue description
The main vehicle interface bus (CAN Node A Bus) has lost communication with the engine controller regarding a specific torque/speed control message (TSC1_PE).
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Farmall
- skid steer
- Steiger T4B
- 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines (7240, 8240, 9240)
- Puma Series Tractors
Check the cause
Check that the tractor/machine battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (such as a jump box or external charger). If connected, disconnect it and test for normal operation.
Visually inspect the CAN bus wiring harnesses and connectors leading to ECU A-095 for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires.
Verify that all connectors are completely installed and seated securely.
Flex the involved harnesses while observing the monitor to reveal any intermittent breaks or shorts in the wiring.
Repair steps
Emergency Movement
If the machine experiences a full power loss due to this code, emergency re-starts are available to move the machine. This allows 30 seconds of operation without power loss before the engine is automatically reduced to low idle speed.
Wiring Repair
If the visual inspection or flex test reveals damage to the CAN bus wiring or connectors, repair or replace the affected harness sections.
Software Verification
If the wiring is intact and the fault has not been resolved, verify that the appropriate software for the ECU A-095 is present. Reinstall or flash the ECU software if necessary.
Module Replacement
If the wiring is verified good, the software is up to date, and the communication failure persists, the ECU A-095 itself may have suffered an internal hardware failure and will need to be replaced.
