Case IH 3363 (F-3555-02) - ECU – Engine Control Module (ECM / ECU): ECM internal failure - Ambient air pressure failure only

A hardware failure of the ambient (atmospheric) air pressure sensor. The sensor is built internally into the Engine Control Module (ECM) circuit board. The code triggers when the internal analog-to-digital converter (ADC) detects a signal that is out of range or implausible.

   Verify operating conditions: Determine the altitude at which the machine is primarily operating.

   Clear and retest: Clear the fault code using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or equivalent scanner. Cycle the key and run the engine to see if the code is an active hard fault or a stored intermittent glitch.

   Check ECM power and ground: Inspect the main ECM harness connectors for water intrusion, bent pins, or corrosion, as poor supply can cause internal ADC processing errors.

   Check for related codes: Look for other 5-volt reference or internal ECM codes (e.g., 3361 ECM EEPROM error). Multiple internal errors indicate a definitively bricked ECM.

   Assess the Need for Replacement

   Determine if the machine operates at high altitudes. If so, the ECM must be replaced to prevent engine derating, heavy smoke, or turbocharger damage. If operated at sea level or low altitudes, the machine can safely be run as-is, though the fault code will remain active.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the battery disconnect switch or remove the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Remove the ECM

   Locate the Engine Control Module (typically mounted on the side of the engine block, cooled by fuel lines in some FPT applications). Disconnect the main wiring harness connectors (usually a 60-pin and 94-pin connector).

   Unbolt the Module

   Remove the isolation mounting bolts securing the ECM to the engine block and remove the unit.

   Install the New ECM

   Mount the replacement ECM and torque the bolts to OEM spec. Reconnect the wiring harnesses securely.

   Program the ECM

   Connect the Case IH EST laptop to the machine's diagnostic port. Download the correct engine dataset/calibration file from the CNH eTIM portal based on the machine's Engine Serial Number (ESN) and flash the new ECM.

   Perform Calibrations

   Run any necessary post-installation routines, such as injector trim code programming and phonic wheel (crank/cam) relearns.
