Case IH 3365 – Engine ECU: Foot Pedal 2 - Signal Too Low
Issue description
The voltage signal returning from the secondary sensor (Foot Pedal 2) drops below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground in the sensor wiring, or a complete internal failure of the pedal's potentiometer.
Applies to these machines
3 machines- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH Steiger Series
- Case IH Maxxum Series
Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the base of the foot pedal inside the cab for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose/pushed-out pins.
Using a digital multimeter, verify that the pedal sensor is receiving its 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground connection. A short to ground on the signal wire will cause the 'Signal Too Low' condition.
Perform a signal sweep test using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST). Monitor live data for both Foot Pedal 1 and Foot Pedal 2 while slowly depressing the pedal. If Pedal 1 sweeps normally but Pedal 2 remains at 0V or a static low voltage, the sensor has failed.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Pedal
Locate the electronic foot pedal assembly on the cab floor.
Disconnect Harness
Unplug the electrical harness connector from the pedal sensor.
Remove Assembly
Remove the mounting bolts securing the pedal assembly to the cab floor.
Install New Pedal
Position the new foot pedal assembly and tighten the mounting bolts.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back into the new sensor and reconnect the battery.
Calibrate and Clear
Turn the ignition key to the ON position. Use the CNH EST diagnostic tool to clear the inactive 3365 fault code. Depending on the exact model, a throttle pedal calibration routine may need to be run via the EST or the tractor's display monitor to teach the ECU the new minimum and maximum voltage limits.
Test
Start the engine and test the foot throttle for smooth RPM response.
