Case IH 3370 (DTC F2EF) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: Strong torque limitation from engine protection active

This is a derate condition triggered by the engine protection system. The engine reduces torque to protect itself when it detects that a critical operating temperature (air intake gas, coolant, engine oil, or fuel) has exceeded the safe limits programmed into the control unit.

   Check for active sensor codes relating to coolant, oil, fuel, or intake air temperatures (3370 is often a secondary code caused by a primary temperature sensor fault)

   Verify that the tractor's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (disconnect if present and test for normal operation)

   Visually inspect the wiring harnesses and connectors going to the ECU (A-095) and temperature sensors for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires

   Perform a wiggle test by flexing the involved harnesses while operating the machine and monitoring the display to reveal any intermittent breaks or shorts

   Address Primary Faults

   If a primary temperature sensor code is present alongside 3370, diagnose and replace the faulty sensor (e.g., coolant temp sensor, fuel temp sensor) or resolve the actual overheating mechanical condition first.

   Repair Wiring

   If the visual inspection or wiggle test reveals a lack of continuity or a short circuit, use the machine's specific electrical schematic to locate and repair the shorted conductor or broken wire.

   Software Flash

   If there is no continuity issue and no primary temperature faults exist, connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST). Check the ECU (A-095) for the appropriate software version and re-flash the ECU if necessary.

   ECU Replacement

   If the ECU cannot be re-flashed, fails to communicate, or the software reset does not clear the erroneous torque limitation, the A-095 Engine Control Unit must be replaced.
