Case IH 34 – Armrest Controller (ARM): Hitch Slip Select Switch Failure

The Hitch Slip Select Switch has failed in the Armrest controller, indicating the Tractor Data Bus has signaled that the slip select switch (SW202) is sending an invalid signal or has failed.

   Access the diagnostic menu and check for parallel fault code ARM 1059 at the armrest controller to isolate the issue.

   Manually toggle the Hitch Slip Select Switch (SW202) through its three positions (OFF, Center/Select, Momentary/Set) while monitoring the switch status in the diagnostic display.

   Inspect the sub-harness inside the armrest for pinched wires, loose connector pins, or corrosion.

   Verify if the Armrest Controller requires a software update or reflash from a Case IH dealer (software execution error).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground to ensure safety while working on the armrest electronics.

   Disassemble the Armrest

   Carefully remove the top cover/bezel of the right-hand armrest console to access the switch panel and internal wiring.

   Test the Switch (SW202)

   Using a multimeter, test the continuity of the Hitch Slip Select Switch across its three positions.

   Inspect the Harness

   Check the continuity of the wiring between the switch terminals and the Armrest Controller board.

   Replace the Component

   If the switch fails the continuity test, replace the switch. If the switch is soldered directly to the board or integrated into a larger module (common in newer Magnums/Steigers), you may need to replace the affected Armrest Control Assembly.

   Reassemble and Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the inactive fault codes. If a new armrest controller module was installed, a dealer calibration of the armrest and hitch components may be required.
