Case IH 3433 – ENGINE: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) inducement less severe derating level
Issue description
Emissions legislations require special measures to ensure the proper functionality of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and DPF systems. When the engine control system detects that the DPF soot load is too high or that a required regeneration has not been completed, it triggers an 'inducement'. This inducement starts with a driver warning and a 'less severe' torque reduction (derate). If the condition is ignored and not fixed, it will progress to a 'most severe' derating level (Fault Code 3434), which activates a 'creep mode' with a strongly reduced maximum vehicle speed.

Check the cause
Check for accompanying active emission-related faults, specifically DPF differential pressure sensor faults (e.g., 3427, 3428, 3429) that could be preventing regeneration
Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check the time interval for DPF service for ashes and verify if the regeneration duration has exceeded the maximum allowed duration
Inspect the exhaust line and DPF differential pressure sensor hose lines for integrity, blockages, or leaks
Repair steps
Perform a Manual Regeneration
Because the fault is triggered by high levels of particulate matter, the first step is to perform a manual regeneration (also referenced in manuals as a forced or parked regeneration).
Clean or Replace the DPF
If the manual regeneration fails, takes too long, or if the EST indicates the DPF is full of ash (which cannot be burned off), the DPF must be removed. It must either be sent to a specialized DPF cleaning service to be baked/blown out, or replaced entirely.
Reset Parameters
If the DPF is cleaned or replaced, you must reset the DPF parameters via the EST service tool.
Clear Codes
Re-initialize the ECU and clear the fault codes to confirm the elimination of the fault and remove the engine derate.
