Case IH 3435 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Inducement Warning

This is a consequential or 'master' fault code indicating that the engine control system has detected a persistent fault related to the DPF or Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system and has activated an 'inducement' strategy. This includes a driver warning, forced torque reduction (derate), and potentially a severe creep mode.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port

   Check for other active fault codes relating to the DPF or EGR system (e.g., 3170, 3171, 3426, 3427, 3428, 3434, 3656, 3766)

   If other DPF fault codes are present, troubleshoot and resolve those specific codes first

   If no other fault codes are present, the condition may have passed, and you can attempt to clear the code and return the machine to service

   Read Codes

   Use the EST to read all active and stored fault codes.

   Diagnose Primary Fault

   Diagnose the primary DPF/EGR fault code that triggered the 3435 inducement. This often involves checking the DPF differential pressure sensor, DPF inlet/outlet temperature sensors, or checking for a severely overloaded/plugged DPF (soot accumulation).

   Repair Primary Issue

   Repair or replace the faulty sensor, wiring harness, or DPF assembly as dictated by the primary fault code.

   Force Regeneration

   If the DPF is overloaded but still recoverable, use the EST to command a manual/forced stationary DPF regeneration.

   Clear the Code

   Once the primary issue is resolved, use the EST to clear the 3435 fault code.

   ECU Re-initialization

   If the code does not clear, use the EST service tool to re-initialize the ECU and load the appropriate data-set for the engine type. This requires a call to CNH Technical Support (TSS) to get an authorization code for the ECU initialization download.

   Test Run

   Start and operate the machine to verify the derate is lifted and the code does not return.
