Case IH 3447 (F-519872-31) - ECU – ECU: Torque limitation due to excessive oil temperature

This is an informational fault code indicating that the system actively limited engine performance (torque reduction) because the engine oil temperature reached an excessively high level. It is not caused by a component failure, but rather by an extreme working condition with a duration longer than 50.0 ms.

   Check for active accompanying codes (such as 3459 or 3034) that could indicate a sensor failure or influence oil temperature

   Inspect engine oil and engine coolant levels, as low fluids will cause the engine to run hot under heavy loads

   Inspect cooling packages (radiator, engine oil cooler, and front grilles) for blockages caused by chaff, mud, or field debris

   Evaluate operating conditions to determine if the machine was being operated under an extreme load in high ambient temperatures

   Reduce Engine Load

   If the code is currently active and torque is limited, reduce the load on the machine and allow the engine to run at a high idle with no load to circulate oil and coolant, bringing the temperature down safely.

   Clear Debris

   Turn off the machine and thoroughly blow out the radiator, oil cooler, and air intake screens with compressed air.

   Top Off Fluids

   Add engine oil or coolant if the diagnostic checks revealed low levels.

   Clear the Code

   Once the engine has cooled to normal operating parameters, clear the inactive fault code from the ECU using your diagnostic tool.

   Test Operation

   Return the machine to normal operation and monitor the engine oil temperature gauge. If the temperature spikes again without an extreme load, you must diagnose the mechanical cooling system or test the oil temperature sensor for skewed readings.
