3482

Case IH 3482 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Aftertreatment Control Unit (MCU / A2CU+): Aftertreatment Fuel Shutoff Valve Circuit - Voltage below normal, or shorted to low source

Issue description

The control module has detected an electrical short to ground in the circuit that controls the hydrocarbon (HC) fuel doser shut-off valve.

Applies to these machines

  • Steiger
  • Magnum
  • Maxxum
  • Puma

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the fuel dosing shut-off valve (Y5000) for broken pins, corrosion, or rust.

  2. Measure the power supply voltage at the connector to ensure it is within the specified operating range.

  3. Perform an electrical short to ground diagnostic test on the wiring harness between the ECU/A2CU+ and the actuator using a multimeter.

  4. Disconnect the valve to isolate the component and see if the short to ground persists in the harness. If the harness tests good, the short is internal to the valve.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect power

Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery power.

  2. Disconnect connector

Disconnect the electrical connector from the aftertreatment fuel dosing shut-off valve.

  3. Repair wiring harness

If your multimeter diagnostics reveal a short to ground in the wiring, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness.

  4. Replace valve

If the wiring harness is faultless and the short is internal to the actuator, replace the Urea Dosing System (UDS) / HC-Doser shut-off valve.

  5. Reconnect components

    Reconnect all components securely.

  6. Clear fault memory

Connect a diagnostic tool (such as the Case IH Electronic Service Tool) to clear the fault memory.

  7. Verify repair

Start the vehicle and run it to verify that the DTC does not reappear and that the aftertreatment system functions normally.
