Case IH 3491 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Missing adjustment value programming for injector in cylinder 1

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has lost or is missing the specific calibration code (IQA, IMA, or QR code) for the fuel injector installed in cylinder 1. The ECU requires this code to adjust the exact pulse width and fuel delivery for that specific injector.

   Verify if the fuel injector in cylinder 1 or the Engine ECU was recently replaced without programming the new code into the ECU.

   Scan for other active fault codes to check for ECU memory faults or internal failures, which could cause the missing programming symptom.

   Physically inspect the fuel injector installed in cylinder 1 and write down the alphanumeric calibration code (or scan the QR code) printed on the injector body.

   Turn the machine's ignition key to the ON position.

   Do not start the engine.

   Connect the CNH EST diagnostic adapter to the machine's diagnostic port and launch the EST software on your laptop.

   Navigate to the Engine ECU module within the software.

   Select the programming/calibration menu and choose the function for 'Change Injector Calibration QR Code' or 'Injector Calibration'.

   Select Cylinder 1.

   Input the alphanumeric adjustment value you recorded from the physical injector in cylinder 1.

   Save/Write the configuration to the Engine ECU.

   Turn the ignition key OFF and wait for the ECU to fully power down.

   Usually 30-60 seconds.

   Turn the key back ON, clear the inactive fault codes, and start the engine to verify the code does not return and the engine runs smoothly.
