Case IH 3496 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Missing adjustment value programming for injector in cylinder 5

The engine's computer has lost, or was never programmed with, the specific trim code (IQA code) for the fuel injector installed in cylinder number 5.

   Verify recent service history to see if the injector in cylinder 5 was recently replaced without programming the new trim code into the ECM

   Check for ECM memory loss caused by a dead battery, severe voltage drop, or recent ECM replacement

3. 3

   Retrieve the physical IQA/trim code stamped on the top of the cylinder 5 injector head or on the tag/box of a new unit

   Record the Trim Code

   Obtain the 6- to 9-character alphanumeric IQA/trim code physically printed on the cylinder 5 fuel injector.

   Connect Diagnostic Equipment

   Connect a compatible diagnostic interface (such as a NEXIQ USB-Link or DPA5 adapter) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Launch Software

   Open the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) software (or a capable aftermarket bidirectional scanner like Jaltest).

   Access the ECM

   Establish communication with the Engine Control Module.

   Navigate to Calibrations

   Go to the programming, calibration, or 'Advanced Configuration' menu for the engine.

   Program the Injector

   Select the injector coding function. Select Cylinder 5, and input the exact alphanumeric trim code you recorded from the injector.

   Save and Cycle Power

   Save the configuration to the ECM. Turn the machine's key off for at least 30 seconds to allow the ECM to power down and store the new value in its non-volatile memory.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the key back on, clear the F676 / 3496 fault code, and start the engine to verify the code does not return and the engine runs smoothly.
