Case IH 3502 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): ECU internal failure - Software resets in DSM 1

The Dosing System Module (DSM) has experienced an unexpected internal software reset, typically caused by electronic disturbances, configuration issues, or an internal hardware failure.

   Check the wiring harnesses and connectors leading to the ECU and DSM for damaged wires, loose machine grounds, or loose connector pins

   Inspect inside the connector terminals for water intrusion or debris (often caused by pressure washing)

   Connect the manufacturer Electronic Service Tool to verify if the software reset is an isolated glitch or a hard, repeating fault

   Resolve Connection Issues

   If any moisture, debris, or loose pins were found during the diagnostic checks, clean the connectors, repair the wiring/grounds, and ensure proper connector sealing. Clear the code and test the machine.

   Reprogram the Module

   If the wiring is intact but the error occurs repeatedly, reprogram/reflash the EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) / ECU with the latest software calibration using the dealer diagnostic tool.

   Replace the Module

   If the software reprogramming does not resolve the issue and the internal failure code persists, replace the EDC/ECU (or DSM).
