Case IH 3574 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Dosing Control Unit (DCU): Info: SCR Inducement: Warning Block 3 activated
Issue description
Informational fault code indicating that the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system has entered a Level 3 inducement (which typically results in a severe engine derate or impending engine shutdown). It is triggered by another active Dosing interrupt group fault, such as an empty DEF tank, poor urea quality, or a dosing system malfunction.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- Magnum 250
- Magnum 280
- Magnum 310
- Magnum 340
- Magnum Rowtrac
- Farmall 115U
- Farmall 120A
Check the cause
Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the CAN network and check for other active primary faults (e.g., NOx sensor plausibility, DEF level, or urea quality codes).
Inspect all wiring and connectors to the ECU and DCU to ensure they are properly connected, undamaged, and connector locks are secure.
Perform a harness flex test on the harnesses involved with the SCR and DCU systems to reveal any intermittent breaks or shorts.
Repair steps
Identify the Root Cause
Using the EST, identify the primary Dosing interrupt fault code that triggered the Warning Block 3 inducement.
Perform Primary Repair
Repair the underlying issue. Depending on the primary code, this usually involves draining contaminated or degraded DEF and refilling the tank with fresh, high-quality urea, repairing damaged wiring or replacing broken connector locks at the DCU or ECU, or replacing a faulty NOx sensor or DEF dosing module.
Verify Connections
Ensure all ECU and DCU connectors are fully seated and locked.
Clear Codes and Heal the System
Once the primary Dosing interrupt fault is repaired and healed, the SCR inducement Warning fault (3574) will automatically clear/deactivate.
Test Run
Run the machine to verify that the Warning Block 3 inducement has been lifted and normal engine performance is restored.
Parts you might need
(4)Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) / Urea
Required if the inducement was caused by poor urea quality or an empty tank.
DEF / Urea Filter
Often replaced during SCR system maintenance.
Wiring Connectors / Harness Repair Kits
If the diagnostic checks reveal broken connector locks at the DCU or ECU.
NOx Sensor
If the primary code indicates NOx plausibility failure.
