Case IH 3620 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Urea quality and urea warning level 8

SCR inducement warning indicating that a distance/time limit has been reached due to an active emissions fault. This is a secondary code triggered by another leading active fault in the system (such as a NOx sensor deviation, poor DEF quality, or low DEF level).

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or EASY diagnostic tool to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Read all active fault codes in the Engine Control Unit (ECU).

   Look for the primary leading active fault (e.g., Code 3623, Code 3602, or codes relating to the DEF quality sensor, DEF level sensor, or DEF dosing module).

   Test the DEF fluid quality using a DEF refractometer to ensure it is at the required 32.5% urea concentration and is not contaminated with water or diesel.

   Address the Primary Fault

   Diagnose and correct the leading active fault identified during your diagnostic checks (e.g., replace a faulty NOx sensor, repair damaged exhaust gas piping, or fix a wiring short).

   Address DEF Quality (If Applicable)

   If the primary fault points to contaminated or degraded DEF, drain the DEF tank completely. Flush the tank and refill it with fresh, certified AdBlue/DEF.

   Replace the DEF Filter

   It is highly recommended to replace the DEF/Urea filter if the fluid was contaminated or if the filter is clogged, as this restricts urea dosing.

   Clear Codes

   Once the physical repairs are made, reconnect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) and erase all faults listed. The 3620 inducement code will not clear until the primary fault is resolved and the ECU is reset.
