Case IH 3667 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): EGR Valve Circuit - Open Load Error For Power Stage
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected an open circuit or a lack of electrical load in the power stage (H-bridge) that drives the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve actuator.
Applies to these machines
14 machines- Farmall
- skid steer
- Skid Steer Loaders
- Compact Track Loaders
- SR175
- SR220
- SV250
- TR320
- Steiger
- Maxxum
- Puma
- Backhoe Loaders
- 580N
- 590SN
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the EGR valve for breaks, chafing, or disconnected wires that would cause an open load
Check the EGR valve connector and the 60-pin Engine ECU connector (specifically pins A50 and A35) for corrosion, backed-out pins, or moisture
Look for accompanying H-bridge or EGR codes (such as 3668, 3669, or 3671) to isolate if the issue is a wiring short that burned out the circuit or a true open circuit
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If an open circuit is found in the wiring harness or connectors during the diagnostic checks, repair the damaged wire or replace the connector terminal.
Replace Component
If the wiring tests good, the open load is likely internal to the EGR valve actuator or the Engine Controller itself.
Restore Self-Learning Parameters
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to the machine and run the EGR self-learning/calibration routine so the ECU can relearn the valve's end-stops.
Replace Engine Controller
If the fault persists after repairs and parameter resets, replace the Engine Controller and use the service tool to restore self-learning parameters.
