Case IH 3680 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Injection cut off: Injection cut off demand (ICO) for shut off coordinator

The engine speed limitation via fuel injection cut-off is active. This is a protective request by the Engine Control Module (ECM) to inhibit fuel injection in order to limit the engine speed to a controllable level. The procedure is typically triggered when the ECM detects internal failures concerning the reliability of the accelerator pedal signal, fuel injection parameters, or engine speed.

   Scan the ECM for other active fault codes (lead failures) such as a faulty accelerator pedal position sensor or engine speed sensor

   Verify the reliability of the accelerator pedal signal, as an erratic signal can trigger the injection cut-off

   Monitor live data to ensure fuel injection parameters and engine speed are reading correctly and are plausible

   Verify if the ECM is operating with the correct dataset, as software corruption or improper datasets can trigger this internal failure

   Address Primary Faults

   If the diagnostic scan reveals lead failures (e.g., accelerator pedal sensor faults), diagnose and repair those specific circuits first.

   Flash the ECM

   If no external sensor faults are present, try to flash the ECM with a proper dataset to resolve software-level internal range errors.

   Replace the Accelerator Pedal

   If the accelerator pedal signal is confirmed to be erratic and cannot be resolved through wiring repairs, replace the pedal assembly.

   Replace the ECM

   If flashing the ECM does not clear the internal failure and all external inputs (pedal, speed sensors) are verified as functioning correctly, the ECM itself has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.
