   Verify battery voltage and inspect the main power and ground harness connections to the Engine ECU to rule out severe voltage drops or spikes during cranking.

   Attempt to clear the fault code using a diagnostic tool and cycle the key to see if the memory block can be successfully read on the next boot sequence.

   Check the operating state of the machine, as it may enter a severe derate or 'Emergency Re-start' mode that allows only 30 seconds of operation.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the machine's battery power (negative terminal first) to prevent electrical arcing.

   Disconnect ECU harnesses

   Locate the Engine Control Unit (EDC) on the engine block or firewall and disconnect the main wiring harness connectors.

   Unbolt and remove the faulty ECU.
