Case IH 3739 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / EDC: ECM Internal Error. If EDC Replaced, Follow The Appropriate Service Tool Procedure To Restore Self Learning Parameters.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Check for any accompanying voltage or power supply codes (e.g., low battery voltage or irregular switch-off codes) that might have caused a temporary internal glitch.

   Attempt to clear the fault code and reload the engine dataset using the EST.

   If the fault code persists and cannot be cleared, the EDC has suffered a permanent internal failure and must be replaced.

   Disconnect power

   Disconnect the machine's battery before unplugging the engine controller to prevent electrical arcing.

   Remove the EDC

   Locate the Engine Control Module on the engine harness, disconnect the main wiring harness connectors, and unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.

   Install the new EDC

   Mount the replacement controller and securely reconnect the wiring harness.

   Restore self-learning parameters

   Reconnect the battery, connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port, and follow the specific service tool procedure to 'Restore Self Learning Parameters'. This flashes the correct engine dataset, injector trim codes, and pump learning values to the blank module.
