Case IH 3748 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Power stages, Injector: Diagnostic fault check to report the timeout in the shut off path test

A timeout indicates that the controller did not receive the expected internal response within the allotted time during this test, pointing to a potential failure in the injector circuit or an internal hardware/software fault within the controller itself.

   Check the injector output stages (highside) and the engine wiring harness for an open circuit, short to ground, or short to battery voltage

   Reload the engine dataset (reflash the ECU) using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to see if the fault clears

   Inspect the injector wiring harness

   Inspect the injector wiring harness for any physical damage, shorts, or open circuits. Repair any compromised wiring.

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Reload the Engine Dataset

   Reload the Engine Dataset (reflash the software) on the Engine Controller.

   Cycle the key and re-test

   Cycle the key and re-test the system.

   Replace the Engine Controller (EDC)

   Replace the Engine Controller (EDC) if the fault persists after the software reload.

   Restore Parameters

   If the EDC is replaced, you must follow the appropriate service tool procedure to restore the engine's self-learning parameters (specifically Injection Time and Injection Angles).
