Case IH 3750 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Reload Engine Dataset Or Replace Engine Controller If Fault Persists (Injection Time)
Issue description
The engine controller has detected that the electrical energizing time required to actuate the fuel injectors is outside of expected or plausible parameters, meaning the system cannot properly control or verify the injection timing.
Applies to these machines
11 machines- Farmall
- skid steer
- Steiger T4B
- Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
- Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
- 580N
- 590SN
- 575N
- Maxxum
- Steiger
- Magnum
Check the cause
Check for associated codes related to fuel rail pressure, injector circuits, or zero fuel calibration (such as 3751 or 3752). Address physical fuel system issues first, as they can cause implausible energizing times.
Inspect the engine wiring harness connecting the ECU to the fuel injectors. Look for shorts, corrosion, or poor pin fitment at the ECU connectors.
Check if there is a known software update or Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for your specific machine's injection timing parameters.
Repair steps
Reload the Engine Dataset
Connect the EST to the machine's diagnostic port and reflash/reprogram the Engine Controller (ECU) with the latest engine dataset. Clear the codes and test run the machine to see if the fault returns.
Replace the Engine Controller
If the fault persists after the dataset has been successfully reloaded, the internal injector drivers or logic in the ECU have failed. You must physically replace the Engine Controller (EDC).
Restore Self-Learning Parameters
If the EDC is replaced, you must use the EST to perform the appropriate service tool procedures to restore the engine's self-learning parameters (such as Zero Fuel Calibration and injector trim codes) to the new module.
