3751

Case IH 3751 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Injection control: Error in the plausibility of the start of energizing angles

Issue description

The engine controller has detected an anomaly or implausible data regarding the timing (start angle) of the fuel injector energizing sequence.

Applies to these machines

  • Farmall
  • skid steer
  • Steiger T4B
  • Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
  • Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
  • Tractors

Check the cause

  1. Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and check for any other active fuel system, camshaft/crankshaft sensor, or injector-related fault codes that could cause injection timing plausibility errors.

  2. Verify the current software version on the EDC using the EST to see if an updated engine dataset is available.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Reload Engine Dataset

Reflash the Engine Controller (EDC) with the appropriate engine dataset.

  3. Clear codes and test

Clear the fault codes and cycle the machine to see if fault code 3751 returns.

  4. Replace the EDC

If the fault persists after the software reload, the Engine Controller (EDC) has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

  5. Restore Parameters

If the EDC is replaced, you MUST follow the appropriate service tool procedure in the EST to restore the engine's self-learning parameters (such as Zero Fuel Calibration and injector trim codes).

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Controller (EDC)

Bosch EDC17C49 ECM. Exact CNH part numbers vary heavily depending on the specific machine model, emission tier, and transmission configuration; look up using PIN/Serial Number. Must be programmed with the correct engine dataset and self-learning parameters using the CNH EST software.
