Case IH 3753 (F-1116-31) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): ECU internal failure - Injection quantity correction

This code indicates an internal failure within the engine controller regarding the self-learning parameters for fuel injection quantity correction. The ECU is unable to properly calculate or apply the correction factors required for the fuel injectors, triggering a Level 2 Monitoring fault. If full power loss is experienced, emergency re-starts (allowing 30 seconds of operation without power loss) are only enabled after the engine has been commanded to low idle.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Check for any active or logged codes related to fuel pressure, injector circuits, or sensor supply voltages (such as 12V sensor supply faults) that could be causing secondary ECU calculation errors.

   Verify if the fault is active (Amber warning). The primary diagnostic step mandated by the OEM for this specific internal failure is to attempt to restore the self-learning parameters via the service tool before condemning the hardware.

   Restore Parameters

   Using the CNH EST, follow the appropriate service tool procedure to restore the engine's self-learning parameters.

   Reload Dataset

   If restoring the parameters does not clear the fault, use the service tool to reload the engine dataset (re-flash the ECU software).

   Replace Controller

   If the fault persists after reloading the engine dataset, the Engine Controller (ECU/EDC) has suffered a permanent internal hardware failure and must be replaced.

   Post-Replacement Calibration

   If the EDC is replaced, you MUST follow the appropriate service tool procedure to restore the self-learning parameters and calibrate the new controller to the engine.
