3754 (F-5313-02) - ECU

Case IH 3754 (F-5313-02) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): ECU internal failure - Rail pressure plausibility

Issue description

This is a Level 2 Monitoring diagnostic fault indicating that the engine's control module has detected an internal calculation, logic, or monitoring error regarding the plausibility of the high-pressure fuel rail data. The computer's internal safety monitoring for the fuel rail pressure has failed or detected an impossible internal state.

Applies to these machines

  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
  • Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
  • Farmall 40
  • Farmall 45
  • Farmall 50
  • Farmall 115U
  • 7240 Axial-Flow Combine
  • 8240 Axial-Flow Combine
  • 9240 Axial-Flow Combine

Check the cause

  1. Check for accompanying codes related to the fuel rail pressure sensor itself (such as code 3766). If sensor voltage or wiring codes are present, diagnose those first.

  2. Verify actual fuel pressure using an external mechanical pressure gauge to ensure the actual fuel pressure is within specification and not fluctuating wildly due to a failing high-pressure pump or regulator.

  3. Check ECU Power/Grounds to ensure the ECU is receiving clean voltage, as voltage drops or spikes can cause internal processing errors.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Reload the Engine Dataset

Attempt to reflash/update the ECU software with the latest dataset. Software glitches are a known cause of Level 2 Monitoring plausibility faults.

  3. Clear codes and test

Clear the fault codes and test run the engine to see if the fault persists.

  4. Replace the Engine Controller

If fault code 3754 returns after the engine dataset has been reloaded, the EDC has suffered an unrecoverable internal hardware/memory failure and must be replaced.

  5. Install new module

    Install the new EDC module.

  6. Program new module

Use the EST to restore the self-learning parameters and program the new module to the machine.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) Module

Varies by specific machine model and engine serial number. Typically Bosch (e.g., Bosch EDC7UC31). Must be flashed with the correct engine dataset for the specific machine using the Case IH EST software after installation.
