Case IH 3757 (DTC E2DD) - ECU – Engine ECU (EDC): ECU internal failure - Post injection shut-off failure
Issue description
This is an Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) Level 2 Monitoring fault. The ECU performs an internal diagnostic check and detects an error in the Post Injection 2 (PoI2) shut-off mechanism. Because the ECU cannot properly command or verify the shut-off of the post-injection cycle, it triggers this code to demand an Injection Cut-Off (ICO) to protect the engine.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- Case IH 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines (7240, 8240, 9240)
- Case IH Steiger Tractors
- Case IH Magnum Tractors
- Case IH A8810 Sugarcane Harvesters
Check the cause
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port
Verify if the fault code 3757 (DTC E2DD) is currently active or stored
Prepare to reload the Engine Dataset to rule out software corruption, as this is an internal Level 2 monitoring error
Repair steps
Reflash the ECU
Using the EST, reload the engine dataset to the Engine Controller.
Retest
Cycle the key and run the engine to see if the fault code returns. If the code clears and does not return, the issue was a software anomaly and the repair is complete.
Replace the ECU
If the fault code persists after reloading the engine dataset, the Engine Controller (EDC) has suffered a permanent internal hardware failure and must be replaced.
Restore Parameters
If the EDC is replaced, you must follow the appropriate service tool procedure in the EST to restore the engine's Self-Learning Parameters to the new module.
Parts you might need
(1)Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) Module
Varies by specific machine and engine model. Must be programmed/flashed with the correct engine dataset and have self-learning parameters restored via the Case IH EST upon installation.
